#8. Short video clip of beehives in Serbia

My bro-in-law, Mikan, is in Serbia, where he found a major apiary right inside the city limits, at a monastery called Slanci.  He visited on a Saturday evening while the monks were preparing food that they serve to all the visiting worshippers every Sunday.  They get up to 200 visitors for lunch every week.

If you paste the following link into your address bar, you should be able to access the video.  It's worth it to see the AMAZING beehive designed to look like a church.  It's inspiring me to get creative with hive architecture, for sure.

And I guess these are some of the original Yugoslavian bees!

  1. I think a beehive in the shape of the Montauk lighthouse might be in order...

  2. I think Mia has a great idea, but a lighthouse design may limit the bees access. How about a saltbox type house?

  3. Talk is cheap, you guys. Let's see who breaks out the tools first!

  4. How many hives are you having again? You could design each one to look like a Montauk landmark. Could do the lighthouse, the Second House, maybe Deep Hollow...hey, even the building Summer Stock's in down the docks...and for the record, I'd be happy to break out the tools but as you know I'd have no idea what to do with them!
